Caterpillar has been going through a bit of a slump lately, along with a slew of other industrial related companies. Caterpillar is currently down almost 6% over the last year, but you may be surprised to know that Caterpillar's share price is actually down 28+% over the last five years. However, over the last six years, which is when "Divi-X" wrote about it in "The Dividend Times: An Introduction to The "Divi-X" System," it is actually up over 103%. This article will review the effect Caterpillar's recent hard times have had on an investment made with and without "Divi-X."
Normally, when I do these updates, I use the exact 100 share scenarios written about in the book. This time and going forward, I will be using the exact parameters as in the book, but I'll be using a $10,000 investment instead of 100 shares. That's the measuring stick most funds use. Dividends 'are not' reinvested.
