Insider Trading [past 12mo.]
In the past 12 months, from May 29, 2013 - May 20, 2014, there have been approximately 840,000+ shares acquired by insiders.
The most recent purchase(s) was made by President/ COO Douglas J. Glaspey May 16 & 20th of 2014. These two purchases, each for 20,000 shares, was direct stock purchased for a combined total of $24,200. Purchase prices were as follows: 20k shares @ $.066 [5/16/14] and 20k shares @ $0.55 [5/20/14]. *Note: Glaspey also gained 27,027 shares [non open market] @ $0.00 per share (Acquisition) on April 02, 2014.
Many of the resources that I check for data have conflicting numbers and are NOT up-to-date regarding insider and institutional holdings, so I put together these resources in one place in order to more easily cross reference them.
From what I can estimate, as of 3/31/2014 insiders held +/- 4,639,127 direct shares and a total of 147,400 indirect shares. Management holdings total 6,444,203 according to USgeothermal.com
This very quick glimpse of institutional and insider trades is simply a reference point for those who wish to track or monitor future insider and institutional holdings. The links provided can be cross-referenced with one another to gauge sentiment and get a glimpse of what 'smart money' is doing. ALL OF THESE NUMBERS ARE SUBJECT TO A MARGIN OF ERROR, due to the delayed reporting on most sites. Links to multiple resources were added in order to combat that margin of error and allow for us to 'dispute' inaccuracies for ourselves. It is always wise to monitor these large transactions because sometimes when big money moves it causes a big wake.
Why post this now?
I wanted to make this resource list available as soon as possible due to the recent 'pullback'. I have a feeling that these numbers will change tremendously in the coming months, for three reasons:
- Most of the numbers reported are as of 3/31/14 - share price closed $0.75 -- as of 5/23/14 shares are trading $0.51-0.58. This significant of a drop/ recoil in price will certainly have institutions reducing positions or at least watching closely. Many of the current Institutions will make adjustments in the coming weeks - it just depends on which way and how much.
- Again, due to this recent pullback into the $0.50s, I'm sure new opportunities will arise for many institutions that were waiting to get in. Newcomer such as California Public Employees Retirement System, as of 3/31/14, started a position of 397,700 shares. I will venture to say that they won't be the last to climb aboard.
- Call me crazy, but I don't think Glaspey will be the last insider to purchase this year. There will be a board election July 14, 2014 @ 10:00 a.m. and you may vote if you were a shareholder on record as of the close of business May 15, 2014. Let's see how that turns out before speculating whom it might be to make the next purchase. My prediction: it will happen before then.
The upcoming meeting will elect all five directors. More on this meeting can be found here at Marketwatch.com
I can barely color between the lines, so I won't attempt to read between them. I do not make investment decisions based solely upon Institutional holdings or Insider trading, but it is a factor (one amongst innumerable others) I like to familiarize myself with prior to 'jumping in' on an investment.
