BioCorRx, Inc. (OTCQX: BICX),a premier company providingalcohol and drug rehabilitation programs in the United States, has finalized its agreement with Sobriety and Addictions Solutions, LLC, the company announced on Monday. Under the agreement, BioCorRx, Inc. will grant Sobriety and Addictions Solutions, LLC exclusive license and distribution to its Start Fresh Program in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina and the District of Columbia.
Sobriety and Addiction Solutions, LLC will also be paying BioCorRx, Inc. a one-time upfront licensing fee and a premium for each program purchased in the said locations.
According to the company's news release, the territory covers a population of an estimated 26.4 people-a potentially lucrative market that the Start Fresh Program can cater to.
A 2011 study done by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) revealed that adults in Washington DC abuse alcohol more than any state. The study states that 8.1 percent of adults aged 26 or older abuse alcohol.
Drug use is reportedly high as well in the state. Utilizing report from The Washington Examiner, the International Business Times reported that Washington DC ranked high for incidences of marijuana and cocaine use.
SAMSHA data also revealed that 7.86 percent of North Carolina's 9,535,483 population aged 18 and above was dependent on illicit drugs and alcohol during the period between 2008 and 2009.
West Virginia ranks second for drug-related deaths, particularly those involving prescription opioids, BioCorRx noted in its news release.
An estimated 88,000 deaths are associated with excessive alcohol use in the US annually, placing it third in ranking among leading lifestyle-related causes of death," according to the Center for Disease Control's (NASDAQ:CDC) fact sheet on alcohol use and health.
The CDC also notes that excessive alcohol use is linked with over 2.7 physician office visits and 1.2 million emergency room visits in 2006.
It also reports that excessive alcohol use accounted for 2.5 million years of potential life lost (YPLL) annually. PubMed.gov defines YPLL as the estimatednumber of years a person would have lived had he or she not died early.
Start Fresh is a two-step addiction rehabilitation program that incorporates the use of a biodegradable implant that slowly releases Naltrexone, a drug that blocks the euphoric high triggered by alcohol or opioid cravings, into the bloodstream. The time-release implant is embedded under a layer of fat in the patient's lower abdomenand is effective for up to 6-12 months in many cases.
Clinics using Start Fresh in the US swear by the effectiveness of the program in curbing alcohol and opioid cravings in patients. Clinics reported success rates of up to 85 percent based on a follow-up survey among patients who had completed the six to eight month program.

Their existing operation in Northern California has begun to generate good revenue for our company and this group feels strongly about the mission of the Start Fresh Program," BioCorRx, Inc. CEO Kent Emry said in the news release.
"We feel confident that this group of experienced professionals will duplicate their existing model and be successful right out of the gate with a territory much larger than they currently possess," Emry added.
Sobriety and Addictions Solutions, LLC was formerly known as Fresh Start NoCal LLC. The company also purchased licensing rights to the StartFresh Program in Northern California in 2013.
