From the time-honored cold soups, evergreen hot soups, main dishes made with meat, fish, vegetables, pancakes and pies, salads and other foods; Russian cuisine, like any other cuisine is an endless basket of mouth-watering food and lip-smacking desserts.

Since the seventeenth century, Siberia has been a part of Russia and so has Siberian culture, food habits and cuisines become a part of Russian lifestyle. One such example is the famous Siberian Pelmeni which is better known as Russian Pelmeni these days.

The vegetarian version of these dumplings can be called vareniki which are filled with cabbage, cheese, potatoes and other vegetables as desired.
