This is not an easy business. Investing is psychological in nature and can be extremely taxing. Patience is key. Not all ideas are written about or picked for publication.
The goal is to try to identify current stock opportunities in the market that can produce some huge gains from disconnects in stock prices. These inefficiencies can be taken advantage of if you can properly identify opportunities, and then manage to act on them before the crowd.

Summary
- Healthcare disruption is here.
- The opportunity for global marketshare is huge.
- It's great to see an opportunity for investors to get in on the ground floor.
If you have followed me in the past, you should know by now that the way to make money in investing is by looking for market disruptors and companies with strong leadership! Thinking ahead, does the company have the right product, and is it introduced to the market at the right time and at the right price? Also, does the company have a Blue Ocean strategy vs. a Red Ocean strategy? And lastly, a question to consider is about an organization’s Human Capital. Meaning, are the people on the bus in the right seat, and is the business scaleable for long-term sustainability?
Well, that said, look no further than Butterfly Network, symbol (BFLY).
Let’s take a look.
About Butterfly Network, Inc.
“Founded by Dr. Jonathan Rothberg in 2011 and recently listed on the NYSE through a merger with Longview Acquisition Corp, Butterfly created the world's first handheld, single probe whole-body ultrasound system, Butterfly iQ.”
Further...“Butterfly's mission is to enable universal access to superior medical imaging, making high-quality ultrasound affordable, easy-to-use, globally accessible, and intelligently connected, including for the 4.7 billion people around the world lacking access to ultrasound.”
With all inefficiencies and problems in the world come opportunities for entrepreneurs. In this case, the problem is the burden on patients who cannot access highly expensive MRI’s and the time from detection to prognosis could be a matter of life and death.
The Solution:
Through its proprietary Ultrasound-on-Chip™ technology, Butterfly (as seen on its corporate website) is paving the way for earlier detection and remote management of health conditions around the world. For a very reasonable cost (lower than any competitor) Butterfly iQ can be purchased online by healthcare practitioners as the company starts its rollout on a global scale. Namely, products are available in the United States, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
Why is this important?
Well, when looking at the element of generating sales, you want to do so on a Grand Scale….meaning, look Globally and not Locally. As a long-term investment, it would be wise to think of the possibilities as most corporations focus on the Global Economy and not just the US marketplace.
The target market here can be endless to the end-user. Who would benefit from their medical technology? Well, here’s a start and I suspect that more avenues for advancement and markets will scale out in due time.
Specific vertical markets to advance its marketshare over the next several years include:
AnesthesiologyCardiologyCritical CareCOVID-19Emergency MedicineGlobal HealthHospital MedicineMSKNursingPrimary CareVeterinary
How many doctors will adopt this technology? Medical and Veterinary? How many hospitals? Wouldn’t the market potential be huge and on a grand scale if the product was affordable worldwide? Doctors who have been surveyed are amazed at the low cost, simple imaging, and accessibility that Butterfly offers to advance healthcare to countries all over the world.
For more information, it would be good to see the company’s most recent investor presentation.
Lastly, I’ll leave you with this great quote by Butterfly Network’s founder:
“Our mission is to democratize healthcare by making medical imaging accessible to everyone around the world.” - Dr. Jonathan M. Rothberg
