I’m counting down the days until my daughter gets married…
Precisely two weeks from today my daughter will be getting hitched…
For those who don’t know me, I have 5 kids – 4 girls and 1 boy…
So in two weeks, I can say that I have made it thru my first wedding, as a parent…
And of course, this means that I am one step closer to financial freedom…

To recap some news in REIT-dom, I had several CEO interviews this week, and I really enjoyed the conversation I had with Jay Sugarman, CEO of Safehold (SAFE). Take a look at the performance of this specialty ground lease landlord since my first bullish article (in 2018):

In 2020 SAFE was one of the best overall performers, returning over 81%.
Shares in SAFE have pulled back YTD, negative 3%, and I am working on an article over the weekend for iREIT on Alpha members.
I also published an article yesterday for iREIT on Alpha members titled, Overweight Real Estate? "Framing" The Problem & Solutions. This article was in response to a subscriber’s question regarding REIT concentration levels, and as I explained,
“Since their creation in 1960, REITs have grown in size, impact and market acceptance. They own approximately $3.5 trillion in gross real estate assets, with more than $2 trillion of that total from public listed and non-listed REITs and the remainder from privately held REITs. This allocation represents roughly 10% of all U.S. institutionally-owned real estate which means the consolidation opportunities are extremely attractive.”
I’m working on an article today comparing REITs to Crypto, and specifically I’m highlighting REIT underperformance in the 1970’s and I am comparing my favorite asset class (REITs) to the state of the Crypto markets today.
The biggest news for the past week is my new book, The Intelligent REIT Investor Guide, that is set to be printed/published in 3 weeks. The cover is finalized and the book is now available (for pre-sale) on Amazon.
As you can see below, the Foreword is written by Mike Kirby of Green Street and the Afterward is written by Milton Cooper, Chairman of Kimco Realty (KIM).
I worked on this book for around eight months and I am now working on a study guide to complement the book. Prior to Covid-19 I would participate in guest lectures and schools such as Cornell, Georgetown, and NYU, and I’m looking forward to getting back into the travel routine again.
