Twitter Following The Footsteps Of Facebook

Twitter is collaborating with Yelp giving more info on location before users visit them.

In an attempt to overcome the slow user growth, the micro-blogging website, Twitter Inc. has collaborated with a business listing and review site by the name of Yelp. The social media network has joined hands with Yelp in order to supply location services in the region of Japan as well as Britain specifically inside the network's app.

As per a report by TechCrunch on Saturday, the latest development between Yelp and social networking website will enable users in the specific regions like Japan and Britain with an option through which they will be able to select places that are provided by the business listing and review site's locations when they tag a location in their tweets.

Yelp has stated that currently the services have been activated on the IOS and android operating system and it further stated that the service will be made available for Twitter internet in the near future as well.

Chad Richard, the senior vice president of business and corporate development of Yelp stated that this integration has made life easier for Twitter users as the social media network users in the area of Japan and United Kingdom can now simply tap the location icon to add Yelp geotags to Tweets.

Users will be able to add Yelp locations in their tweets now; when they will click on particular locations that are also available on Yelp. They will also witness a separate business card that will have Yelp's ratings, locations and a link to take the user directly to Yelp's app as well.

The report by TechCrunch further stated that when the users will click on a location in a given tweet, they will be directed to a separate business card that will contact more details, such as address, rating and also a direct link to the specific revenue with the help of Yelp's app.

This has presented the social media site with yet another opportunity as the location data has managed to set up the groundwork for potential future advertising units that are entirely based on locations. Companies can start to advertise their businesses on the basis of these location tags as well hence providing more business for Twitter.

TechCrunch added that the integration of Yelp with Twitter also gives more staying power for users and might prove to become more entertaining for the customers. This push on the company's part might prove to be yet another expansion towards the functionality of its platform.

Presently, the social networking website has over 300 million active users which in comparison to the largest social media website Facebook Inc. is not enough, as currently the Facebook's active users stand at 1.5 billion users making it a much more popular website in comparison to Twitter.
