Facebook Is Debuting A Camera Application

Facebook is coming up with a camera app to rival Snapchat.

Facebook Inc. seems to be on the right track and is in no mood to slow down particularly when it comes to the video domain. The company is working quite hard to ensure activities and interactions via its platform.

The social media giant is on the verge of making a stand-alone camera app with an agenda to intrigue its user base that exceeds 1.55 billion individuals. The concept behind this platform is to share and create more photos and videos on the network.

A report surfaced by The Wall Street Journal about the initiative since it learn from a couple of sources about the development of the app. The prototype of the application has been derived by the "friend sharing" team. The app is going to have striking resemblance with the Snapchat, a rival messaging app that has become increasingly popular amongst the masses.

The application will make use of the smartphone's camera to take videos and photographs. Other than that, the users will be able to stream the footage while recording. This means that the tech giant might integrate the broadcast and streaming feature, Facebook Live. Some analysts believe that the reason behind coming up with this app is to bolster Live.

On the other hand, the core Facebook mobile application is offering customized feed encompassing pages, posts, status updates. Articles along with numerous advertisements that can be liked, comment, shared and clicked by users. It needs to be noted that neither of the activities will result in the creation of content by users but they will just get engaged on the platform and then circulate it further.

The main issue faced by the company is that the users are now becoming extremely massive on the social media platform. Most of the users check the social media site just once a day and only a few are actually sharing photos, updates and statuses. A report published by The Information recently highlighted that FB has embraced a massive drop in terms of personal content over the past few years. During the summers of FY14 and FY15 an over drop of 5.5% was observed whereas the personal content went down by 21%.

Facebook came into existence with the concept of circulating information amongst friends thus the personal element needs to persist on the platform whatsoever. Thus, the substantial drop in content sharing and creation can turn out to be a major issue which they seek to resolve through this upcoming application.

It is being assumed that by coming up with a new application, new challengers are likely to surface. Some Facebook users have also become agitated since the company is coming up with new applications each day that are just being shoved to them. Instagram and Messenger are those applications that have made a mark but other than that they had to put a halt on Creative Labs as well as remove three apps from the Google Play Store and Apple Store. The company is experimenting at this point so that it can redeem its prior position.
