Local Internet Marketing Is Too Complex

Frank Reed writes an excellent article over on Mike Moran's Biznology blog and points out that it's 'No wonder local Internet marketing is a mystery to many SMB's & even much larger businesses & organizations.'

< ......It's our job as an industry to make this less about mystery and more about potential. The SMB market is extremely large yet still relatively untapped online.

I suspect that this is due to the Internet industry's inability to make it easy enough for the do-it-yourselfers in the SMB space & to make it coherent enough for the "I want someone to do this because I see value but I don't have the time or knowledge to do it" set. >

Frank Reed feels that ......'we are a long way off from solutions being put together well enough to engage more businesses and help them reap the benefits of well-executed local Internet marketing efforts.'

But I'm not so sure that this is the case. Let me explain that I had attempted to address this same situation in my InstaPost on Jan 27th.

So Looksmart (with it's own self service publisher initiative), and now committed with moving to Performance based advertising in various forms, that new OPEN marketplace will soon allow SMB's an equal chance 'bid' - up against big global brands, when targeting their own desired (or, type of ) 'users', with-in their very specific geographical (physical) location of their business or, via their own chosen, web based marketplace.

Times are a 'changin', that's for sure. And more quickly than many can see, I feel.

Disclosure: Long LOOK and happy to be so, too.
