It was within my post Facebook is Moving to Kitchener, Canada... that I had mentioned that...the thing is... in being so "cashed up", Facebook could so easily buy AppNexus .... along with the Looksmart Ad Network [by buying into LOOK's advertising networks], too!
BOTH, make an "ideal" fit, I feel.

So, according to Nicholas Carlson (deputy editor at Business Insider), who also says, in this article:
"Facebook will sell ad inventory on third-party sites and target it using its own data AND third-party data."
I guess (and in view of my own 3-Jul-12, 'take' on Facebook, AppNexus, Looksmart - as above) the two questions to be asked now would be:
How does Facebook 'reach' those 'third-party sites' and what kind of (independent) 'third-party data' will Facebook likely be utilising?
Could this rumor be about CPA type 'targeting' per chance?
Oh well ...Time will tell.
