The lessee/operator of Mesabi Trust's mineral interest is North shore Mining Corporation, a subsidiary of Cliffs Natural Resources Inc. Cliffs is a producer of iron ore products. Mesabi Trust holds all of the interest formerly owned by Mesabi Iron Company.

Legg Mason BW Global Income Opportunities Fund Inc. is a non-diversified, closed-end management investment company. Its main investment objective is to provide current income. It is a royalty trust. Revenues from overriding royalties are paid to the company either on the basis of the selling price of oil, natural gas and other mineral produced, saved and sold, or at the value at the wellhead as determined by industry standards.

The company along with its affiliated companies is an amusement park operator, which owns 11 amusement parks, six outdoor water parks, one indoor water park and five hotels.
