It is a leader in the multimodal logistics, warehousing and biomass fuel sectors as well as operating in the property development, port airport and civil engineering sectors. The company is one of the recognized and strongest brands in Britain, best known for its iconic Eddie Stobart trucks. It operates in five segments such as The Stobart Air segment, The Stobart Biomass segment, The Stobart Transport & Distribution segment, The Stobart Estates segment and The Stobart Infrastructure & Civil Engineering segment.
The Group has pioneered different environmental initiatives within the industry such as modal shift from road to rail with the Stobart Rail low-carbon service that brings fresh produce into the UK from southern Europe through the channel Tunnel. The company is employing over 6,000 people at 50 sites across the United Kingdom. Both are highly successful and one of the county's best known companies. Stobart is a business super brand.
History
In the late of 1940s the business was started by Steady Eddie Stobart as an agricultural business in Cambria. On 1970 the company consisted of three main parts: Fertilizer, Haulage and a Farm shop in wagon. These were eventually split up in the 1980s. In 1970 the business incorporates Eddie Stobart Limited, on 23 November.
In 2005 there was a large investment made in IT infrastructure in conjunction with the development of a key management team and the introduction of a striking ne livery for the fleet. In the year of 2006 the first Stobart Rail freight service is launched. In 2007 the LSE lite Stobart Group Limited is formed through a reverse manager with Westbury Property Fund Limited.
Strategy
The Group's vision is clear. Its aim is to become the United Kingdom's leading provider of multinational transport and logistics solutions. To achieve this goal the group has developed an incisive three year strategic program that is expected to deliver growth for the business and value for its shareholders.
Under the Group's strategy the aim is expand all forms of transport which are provided by the company, especially with the rail, sea and air sectors and establishing operational infrastructures in the best places to service the maximum number of customers. The Group has already laid excellent foundations and is already outperforming the market. The company's strategies include these following points:
· They work to seize the opportunities, operationally, as the economy comes out of recession, building on their key competitive advantages, such as load utilization and pooling their customers.
· Their aim is to develop systems and technologies that protect the business from operational and financial risk.
· They want to take waste out of the system; waste adds to cost and damages the environment.
· The strategy also includes growing organically with both existing and new customers and to leverage the high value in the Stobart brand.
Announcements
On 2 April, 2013 the Stobart Group Ltd announced that it expects to report fiscal 2013 result moderately ahead of market expectations. On 16 May 2013 it announced the Board is proposing a final dividend of GBP 0.040 per share which was payable on July 5, 2013. It was making a total for the year of GDP 0.060. The dividends referred to the year ended February 28, 2013.
The company's interim dividend payment date is 6 December 2013, record date is 8, November 2013 and the interim ex dividend record date is 6 November 2013. Its current market capitalization is 339.47 Million, EPS is 0.09, P/E ratio is 10.52 and the dividend yield is 6.35% at the annual dividend payout of 4.00.
