Russian(s) Attack U.S. Net

The cyberattack that took out Facebook and Twitter for two hours was apparently undertaken by a solitary Russian, or perhaps someone working with one or two other people. And it can be characterized as "accidental," or at least "random."

But suppose a hostile nation ordered its computer operatives to engage in an all-out cyberattack against America. That could cause widespread havoc. Then the resulting problem could be a matter of two days, or two months, or even two years.

This indicates a key danger (and weakness) of the "new era" and "new economy." We need to have adequate backup systems in the form of telephones, faxes, and even snail mail. Then, we woudn't be crippled by a hostile cyberattack. Recently, we've become so dependent on computers and electronics that we could be.
