The Magazine Cover Indicator: The Latest Version

Time Magazine just declared Bernanke's monetary policy to be a failure. Actually, that is not what they said when they put him on the cover as the Man of the Year. But that's probably what they meant.

Most people that make the magazine do so riding on a bubble. More often than not, it means that the bubble is about to burst. Past examples include Jeff Bezos, at the end of the 1999 tech bubble, and yes, Adolf Hitler, in January 1939,  just before he started World War II.

Magazine covers are reflective of their "times." To be more exact, they are reflective of perceptions, which are often the diametric opposite of reality. More often than not, some(one)/thing celebrated by a magazine cover is about to get its comeuppance.
