LED backlight, wide-angle panels at low prices, 3D and other new products rich in new technology, LCD in 23.60-inch, 24.60-inch and other sizes and LCD products with attractive prices and innovative appearance undoubtedly brought a certain surprise to China's LCD market. Entering 2010, the LCD market still continued the trend of innovation and changes despite fierce competition, and presented the following major characteristics: LED-backlit LCD occupied increasingly large share in the market; widescreen displays became the mainstream; 3D displays gradually came to the forefront; new technology significantly accelerated the response speed of displays; LCD looked more fashionable, personalized and attractive.

Compared with 2009, the overall brand pattern of China's LCD market experienced no fundamental changes in 2010. Samsung, LG, AOC and other major brands maintained their market positions. In 2010, more LCD brands intensified the investment in LED backlight brands. Throughout 2010, the number of LED backlight products in mainstream products increased from dozens to hundreds, the brand pattern in the market also changed greatly with the increase in investment, and Samsung became the brand with the most attention proportion in domestic LED-backlit LCD market.

In 2010, the products of China's LCD market further developed to larger sizes. 21.50-inch and 23-inch products enjoyed rising attention. By the end of 2010, the market attention proportion of 21.50-inch products had been almost the same with that of 19-inch products. The display sizes of mainstream products are predicted to experience changes in the near future. In 2010, the average market price of domestic LCD fluctuated to a certain extent. The standard deviation of monthly average price was CNY 15.11, presenting slowly rising trend. Seen from the development trend, it is predicted that in the next three years, the average price in China's LCD market will continue increasing at a relatively low rate. The average market price is estimated to rise to CNY 1,317 in 2011 and CNY 1,342 in 2013, with the growth rate of average price decreasing yearly.

In China's LCD market in 2010, the attention proportion of Samsung was 29.90%, continuing ranking the first in the market, and the attention proportions of LG and AOC were relatively 13.60% and 13.50%. The other top ten brands included Great Wall, BenQ, Philips, ViewSonic, Dell, Acer and HKC. Compared with 2009, the overall pattern of China's LCD market remained unchanged, while the attention proportion of Samsung fell by 2.30% in 2010. In fierce competition, LG and AOC both saw a significant rise in attention proportion. In 2010, China's LED LCD market grew very rapidly, and various mainstream brands strengthened their investment in the market, changing the market pattern significantly. The annual attention proportion of Samsung was 25.70%, ranking the first in China's LED LCD market.

In 2010, the customers of China's LCD market mainly focused their attention on LCD at the price of less than CNY 2,000. Display Screens developed towards large sizes. Seen from the entire year, 19-inch screens enjoyed the most attention proportion in the market, which were followed by 22-inch, 21.50-inch and 23-inch display screens. Compared with the beginning of 2010, 21.50-inch products and 23-inch products enjoyed increasingly large attention proportion, which are bound to be the mainstream screen sizes in the nest phase. Therefore, seize of the LED market will influence the development of various brands in the future. The pattern of domestic LCD market has been basically stable. It can be seen from the market performance of Samsung in 2010 that brands have a great effect on the market attention proportion. With the popularization of LED backlight products, the lifetime of LCD will be longer than before, but the market saturation is a major obstacle to the development of LCD. Besides, the panel prices directly affect the manufacture costs of LCD products. Therefore, the upstream panel market influences greatly on the development of the LCD market.

At present, China has become the world's largest LCD production base and consumer market. In 2010, the LCD TV output was about 190 million. According to the survey conducted by DisplaySearch, in 2010, China became the world's largest LCD TV market, with LCD TV sales volume of about 40 million. With the successive construction of large-size panel productions in the new two years, the demand for upstream materials is predicted to present explosive growth. TCL, Hisense and other domestic enterprises producing upstream materials are likely to survive in the competition with internationally renowned manufactures by virtue of low costs and indigenous advantages with gradually mature technology and accelerating industrialization.
