Cigarette Production and Sales
From January to June in 2013, 25.887 million cartons of cigarettes were produced for selling in domestic market, decreasing by 0.4% YOY. The total sales volume of cigarettes achieved 26.66 million cartons, increasing by 1.3% YOY. The sales volume of the first-class, second-class and third-class cigarettes increased with growth rates of 14.9%, 14.1% and 4.5% respectively. The sales volume of the first-class cigarette took up 18.1% of that of the industry, increasing by 2.2% YOY. The aggregate sales volume of the first-class, second-class and third-class cigarettes took up 73.7% of that of the industry, increasing by 4.6% YOY.
By the end of June, cigarette inventory for industrial and commercial sale was 3 million cartons, decreasing by 19,000 cartons YOY. Cigarette inventory for industrial sale was 1.153 million cartons, and that for commercial sale was 1.847 million cartons.
Cigarette Sales Structure
From January to June in 2013, wholesale sales revenue including tax of a single carton of cigarette for commercial sale was CNY 25,318.0, increasing by 7.4% YOY.
Cigarette Tax and Profit
From January to June in 2013, cigarette industry achieved CNY 530.35 billion of tax and profit, increasing by 10.2% YOY. Tax and profit of cigarettes for industrial sale increased by 10.04% YOY, and that of cigarettes for commercial sale increased by 11.5% YOY.
From January to June in 2013, key brands of cigarette industry sold 20.063 million cartons of cigarettes in total, increasing by 8.1% YOY. This sales volume took up 75.3% of that of the industry. Commercial sales revenue of cigarettes achieved CNY 603.77 billion, increasing by 12.0% YOY. This sales revenue took up 90.9% of that of the industry.
From January to June in 2013, the first-class, second-class and third class cigarettes sales volume top 15 brands sold 15.786 million cartons of cigarettes in total, increasing by 9.9% YOY. This sales volume took up 59.2% of that of the industry, increasing by 4.2% YOY.
From January to June in 2013, sales revenue of top 15 brands achieved CNY 532.73 billion of commercial sales revenue in total, increasing by 11.8% YOY. This sales revenue took up 78.9% of that of the industry, increasing by 2.1% YOY.
