Azure Dynamics today announced they will begin production of the Electric Transit Connect vehicle in co-operation with Ford in March for North America and in June for Europe. They have initial predictions of only 700 vehicles at first go but this number could increase exponentially if oil goes up and they are easily able to meet a larger demand, even ten-fold. The companies biggest investors are Shell, Blackrock, and RBC. One important point was made by their CEO, Scott Harrison, that fleet purchases (and this is their market) were down 60% in the last year creating a potential bubble in the near future where companies need to replace seven to eight year old vehicles (the normal age of replacement being five years). Are the companies waiting for a product like the Electric Transit Connect, all the businesses I've talked to say "Yes, when can I make my order!"
