CLARK'S GATE TRADING SYSTEM
Daily Trades: for Thursday 26 August 2009
Short-Term Trading Emphasis.
What's new today? Indexes haven't changed much. We had a lot of sell signals today in our primary trading system: M5 10. We had mostly small gains -- with a lot of accuracy. We closed 8 short positions, all with gains between 1.41% and 4.74%. We closed 23 long positions, 22 winning trades, with gains between .83% and 9.65%. The one losing trade lost .15%. We include charts below of a few of these trades. So, 31 trade (both long and short), 30 winning trades.
This system does not 'specialize' in small gains, even though it does specialize in relatively short trades. For instance, trading in DOG does not result in a series of 3.69% gains. Trading DOG in 2009 has resulted in the following returns:
|12 Long 9 01/05/09 01/16/09 +5.28 +7.87% Exit Long Rule|
|13 Long 17 01/29/09 02/24/09 +7.07 +9.68% Exit Long Rule|
|14 Short 24 03/10/09 04/14/09 +12.08 +14.30% Exit Short Rule|
|15 Short 12 04/21/09 05/07/09 +4.14 +5.76% Exit Short Rule|
|16 Short 8 05/18/09 06/03/09 +1.67 +2.50% Exit Short Rule|
|17 Short 7 07/13/09 07/22/09 +4.39 +6.52% Exit Short Rule|
|18 Short 6 08/18/09 08/26/09 +2.26 +3.74% Exit Short Rule|
This disparency between the 3.69% below and the 3.74% above results from brokerage costs figured below.
Our daily portfolio is up 8.2% in a little under two months.
|% Gain||DAILY||Gain||Trades||Cost||First Trade|
|6.45%||M2F ALT LT||$73,473||114||1140000||7/8/09|
|74.72%||M4 Sum Rev||$7,472||1||10000||8/20/09|
Not much new today. The Dow Jones Transport Index (DJT) is overbought, turning, and should pull back here a bit. Selling is trying to come in (M4 sum plus 7, 2nd pane). The series of spikes up and down in the normalized M4 sum plus 7 (bottom pane) indicates consolidation -- and a rough equilibrium between buyers and sellers. Momentum, 3rd pane, M5 Average Plus, is still positive.
The Hang Seng Index (HSI) should experience more selling at this point. Trend pattern is negative (lower lows and lower highs); momentum (M5 Average Plus) is negative.
The Nikkei Index (N225) should experience more selling here as well. Momentum is turning down; selling is trying to come in; M2F alt is also overbought and turning down.
This is not a normal market however -- as we are reminded over and over again. This market is being buoyed by HUGE money that is terrified of the consequences if it allows the market to reverse and devastate global societies again. (It seems to me that anyone losing money in this market on the short side might be able to sue in the future when the Information Act proves the Fed was willfully making the markets unfair.)
We're not getting any good buy signals today.
