HERE COMES THAT ECLIPSE -- WHAT IS AN ECLIPSE?

Aug. 5, 2017 6:27 PM ET•HPQ, FXS, RSComment!

SAROS SERIES 145 is approaching Oregon, where I live.   A million guests will visit the state; local authorities are a bit panicked.  They fear a horde of visitors racing in their cars from Point A to Point B to Point C... as SS 145 cuts a ribbon through the state on August 21, three weeks (about) from today.

We are trying to entice our family to visit to see this "once in a lifetime event".  I wrote a letter to them, trying to entice them.  I'd like to share it with you.

The ECLIPSE is a very mysterious thing.  A specific eclipse returns every 18 years, 11 days, 8 hours.  It can begin at the top of the Earth and work its way down; or it can begin at the bottom of the Earth and work its way up.  The band it cuts during one eclipse is continued 18 years later, either high to low or low to high, only shifted slightly to the west.  Then it leave again for 18 years and returns to continue painting the earth with its shadow band, picking up, in terms of latitude where the last one left off.

It takes 252 years for a Saros Series' series of total eclipses to paint the entire vertical band of the earth it is assigned black, to borrow a phrase from the Rolling Stones.  Then partial eclipses continue.  The total life cycle of a Saros Series eclipse is (average) 1260 years -- that is 504 years of partial eclipses, 252 years of total eclipses, and another 504 years of partial eclipses.  There are usually 40 Saros Series eclipses networking across the earth at any given time. Who says there is no order in the universe?  (Interestingly, 1260 x 2 = 2520.)

252 is an interesting number.  As you know, I believe the earth is governed by a 36-year cycle -- 18 years of growth always followed by 18 years of rest (material turmoil, depression, natural disasters, war, plagues, droughts floods...)

7 "days" or periods of growth (7 days, or a week) x 36 years = 252.

The Moon at its highest point, its apogee, is 252,00 miles from the earth.

In the 1800s a British Scholar, Sir John Glubb, wrote a book THE FATE OF EMPIRES, in which he showed Empires on Earth last an average of 250 years -- that is, in my interpretation, 252 years.

I could write more about this but I will stop here.  Ancient cultures learned to predict the appearance and reappears of an eclipse and attached great importance to them.  My view, which I am developing in my book (CROSS EXAMINATION). is that every 18 years History makes a subtle transition from GROWTH, which is solar, hot, expansive, governed by the Sun, which I call the Day-Cycle or the FATHERLAND, via a subtle lunar eclipse of the Sun, symbolically at least, to a lunar, cool, contractive phase, governed by the Moon, a Night-Cycle or a MOTHERLAND -- for instance, the last Day-Cycle began in 1983 (Reagan, the Father Figure) and ran through 2001 -- where the Sun was eclipsed by the Moon, which will rule through 2019.

The Day-Cycle is predominantly Father-Figure-ruled, Teddy Roosevelt; Reagan; Trump....Republican ideas.  Republican ideas are closer to the Monarchy and the Republic than they are to mass democracy.

Reagan was elected in 1980; Trump is 2016 -- 36 years apart.  Coincidence?  Day-Cycle people (Left Brain) will reply "surely".  Night-Cycle people (Right Brain) might reply: "There are no coincidences."  The Day-Cycle emphasizes the individuality of everything, the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle.  The Night-Cycle emphasizes the connectedness of everything, the jigsaw puzzle as a whole picture.  When we analyze dreams, we must connect ALL THE DOTS, because everything is part of the story.  When we analyze material reality, we isolate matter from its larger processes to see what causes what, in the detail scale, with the idea of being able to manipulate processes.  All the dots are not needed for the Day-Process study; in fact, too many dots get in the way.  In writing, Day-Cycle Writers begin with an outline and try to whittle things down to an imagined essence -- the more you exclude the better.  Night-Cycle writers are a river flowing through and embracing everything in sight.  Outline?  It is like trying to put reality in a box.  You can't box in the river.

The Night-Cycle is predominantly Mother-Figure-ruled: FDR; John Kennedy; Jimmy Carter; Obama ... Democratic ideas.

Neither side is good or bad per se; both are mixed.  One is Day; the other is Night.  The Night is dreamy and idealistic.  The Day is authoritarian, monarchical (the Sun is the only God in heaven during the day), practical, scientific, concerned with matter (money).  The Night is democratic, pluralistic, multicultural (the Moon and many stars rule the Night sky -- the Sun, the King, is gone), impractical, artistic, idealistic.

Communism is the Mother-Land punishing the Fatherland for its greed and corruption; Capitalism is the Fatherland punishing the Motherland for its inability to order the world and make it grow.

Confucius, Plato, Freud, and Tolstoy are Day-Cycle symbols.  Lao-Tse, Aristotle, Jung and Dostoevaki are Night-Cycle symbols -- although Tolstoy's WAR AND PEACE is the manifesto of God's cycles.

Historical Day-Cycles: 1911-1929; 1947-1965; 1983-2001; 2019-2037...

Historical Night Cycles: 1929-1947,; 1965-1983; 2001-2019...

My view, again, is that neither side is "right" or "wrong".  Both sides are NECESSARY.  The Father-Mother (the eternal Monad, which manifests as the DUAD, as Primordial Conflict or Duality) gives birth to the West, the Son.  The West lives out a Day-Cycle of 18 years, often in conflict with its parent(S); and then "dies" or rests, and then the West moves back to the East (sometimes literally, physically; sometimes philosophically and spiritually) to dream and rest, and to prepare for rebirth.

The West, #3, Mind and Man, is periodical.  Androgynous.  Day and Night.

Love,

MJC

We have a couple of new signals today.  We have a BUY SIGNAL on GUSH, OIL BULLISH ETF, which we are recommending readers ignore.  We have a twin signal  BUY TNA Midcap Stocks Bullish and SHORTSELL TZA Midcap Stocks Bearish.  The question is, which of these two stocks is a better buy.

Here is a picture of GUSH and TNA, first.

We did not run a TZA Chart.  We consider it a mirror-image of TNA.

So, how do we figure which is a better buy?  There are different methods of doing this.  We like to look at options.  Here is our analysis.

We look at how our system trades each of the issues in question.  We average the last 10-15 trades -- the same number for both issues.  TNA has returned an average gain of 5.33 points in the last 11 trades; TZA has returned an average gain of  6.54 points in the same number of trades.

We want October expiration.  And we want both contracts to be slightly in the money.

TZA Oct 17 puts cost 1.765.

TNA Oct 55 calls cost 4.35.

We want to spend the same amount on both positions -- say $500 (or $1000, it does not matter which we use).

We can buy 2.83 contracts for the TZA puts if we spend $500.  We can buy 1.14 TNA calls for the same $500.  TNA calls are almost 3 times as expensive; this does not matter so much IF TNA outperforms TZA in our system trades.  TNA actually underperforms.  IF we reach our average gains we can expect to $1942 from the TZA puts for a $500 investment; we can expect to make only %613 for the TNA calls if we return the average we expect.

SO TZA IS OUR CHOICE.  If TZA is our choice, we need to look at it.
