Long/Short Equity, Special Situations, Currencies

Seeking Alpha Analyst Since 2009

Michael J. Clark was born and raised in Sinclair, Wyoming. He is a poet, novelist, artist, historian, and market analyst. He began investing in 1985. He read ˜The Technical Analysis of Stock Trends" by Edwards and Magee and was hooked. From 1985-1987 he made astonishing gains in the stock market; and then stocks collapsed in 1987. Since then he has been attempting to 'solve the stock market', with many failures and some successes. The system he developed, called CGTS, Clark's Gate Timining System, is algorithm-based. What this fancy word means is that he proposes a series of necessary steps based on technical analysis propositions, which, when met, trigger trading signals. His four main trading systems are up a combined 31% for 2015. From his website: INVESTMENT PHILOSOPHY Now that QE is supposedly ending, markets are already becoming more tradable, with opportunities to make money on both long and short trades at the same time. QE tended to make all boats rise, except precious metals. This made it more difficult to play the short side of the markets. Now, both sides seem to be more accessible to successful trades. This will also be more of a challenge for investors. The FED will have to eventually abandon the markets to their own destinies, and stop spending trillions to protect investors AND corporations from their mistakes. As this begins to happen (I am not sure it has happened yet), informed advice will become even more necessary for investors. Rules of Investment Rule #1: Never go against the trend. The majority is often wrong; but the minority is often wrong also. The sticky issue with this advice is at transition points, at which a Bull Market turns into a Bear Market or vice-versa. Big Money often anticipates and/or causes this transition. So pay attention to what Big Money is really doing, not what they say they are doing. Rule #2: You don’t need a broker who makes his living off of your money. Most brokerage firms buy a position in a stock quietly and slowly. When the stock has appreciated significantly they add the stock to their buy recommendations. Then they begin selling their position while they are encouraging their clients to buy the stock. Most firms never issue sell recommendations. If they do, beware: they are probably trying to buy your stock after a huge sell-off. Rule #3: Watch your own emotions because they are often signaling something. When fear turns to greed and visions of unlimited wealth, we are probably near a top in a trade and we should get ready to sell. When hope and denial turn to fear and visions of an unlimited loss, we are probably approaching a bottom in a trade. (See Rule #1 however.) Rule #4: Trade with a system to complement your gut reactions. Follow the system no matter what, even if it means taking a loss. Don’t get lazy with your money and sink into denial. Use a system to help you refrain from 'playing a hunch'. Rule #5: HEDGE YOUR PORTFOLIO AGAINST LOSSES. How does one do this? By having a balanced portfolio of long and short positions. But have a system that signals both long and short positions, and keep your portfolio balanced around 50% long and 50% short. This may seem to contradict Rule #1. It does not. When something is in a long trend, something else is in a short trend. Find what is long and what is short. If stocks are long, gold or oil may be short. Use ETFs and options to help establish this portfolio balance. Our system gives trading signals every day for both long and short positions. CGTS WEDNESDAY: MELT-UP THAT WON'T STOP.

Dec. 10, 2020 2:43 AM ETFROG, FXP...

Not a very good day today.

A reader wanted to see TDOC. What a run. It swamped our entire FIB RS scale and is now pulling back.

Our TOP-DOWN Scale says supportTDOC12/9237.63 TOPTOP-DOWN90.77118.82147.33180.5988 <--------------CORRECTION SUPPORT201.9855216.2

We have run a new RS scale based on the new bottom made at 184.31. Next stop: 200.9.

OUR NEW (OLD) CGTS System, which we introduced yesterday, has a couple NEW trades today. You can tell the new trades by the single colored boxes (red for SHORTSALE, GREEN for LONG) to the right of the colored column.

It's off to a herky-jerky beginning. We think it will be good however.

I know we have at least one reader who likes FROG.

PODD, BUY. C1=1 new transition.

SHORT: RKT, ROCKET. SHORT positions are treacherous in a liquidity-driven market.

Is the NEPH MOMO trying to turn over? If it is, this could be a short SHORT trade. C1=3, SHORT; C3=2, LONG/SHORT trade. C3=2 acts like C3=3 in fact. C3=2 is a TRADING SELL SIGNAL; but it is often a very strong SELL-OFF.

A couple of sales in the same CGTS OLD System.

AKTS, AKOUSTIS TECHNOLOGIES, a gain of 74%.

IDEX, a gain of 122%.

When I looked at this stock last night, I said: "It looks like an EV stock, like SOLO and BLNK. "Monetizing the adoption of commercial electric vehicles..." I am already overextended in the EV market.

It's a bit hard to read these charts. BLNK is the leader; it has already turned up. IDEX and SOLO are getting ready to turn up. Just look at the price panes,.

So I am adding IDEX to our WATCH LIST. How many EV stocks can one own without choking on them? When FISHNET bottoms, we will run another R/S reading. Note the two thin red lines as the TOP-DOWN support and resistance levels: stock should bottom between 2.28 and 1.81. Let's watch this to see what happens.

One more CGTS OLD-BOY System, BLACKSTONE Senior Debt, 28% gain.

3-x TRADES.

Get ready to BUY China Stocks? M2F ALT PLAIN 3x System.

Are you interested? If so, which shouyld you buy, the YANG PUT OPTIONS or the YINN CALL OPTIONS?

How does M2F ALT PLAIN trade the two issues? Does it trade them equally? No, they don't. YANG trades much more energetically than YINN does.

Why? I don't know. I'll look. (YINN and YANG apparently track different indexes, which explains some of this.)

YINN To My YANG: What's Up With Leveraged Chinese ETFs?

I reloaded quote data thinking this might help. It did not. I did a hand-count of trades from 2015 on and divided total gain by number of trades:

YANG seems to be MORE ENERGETIC.

The YANG SPREAD is slightly MORE EXPENSIVE.

We are going to buy the YANG PUTS instead of the YINN CALLS. That was pretty noisy wasn't it? Sorry.

Today's M2F ALT PLAIN Report echoes some of the same noise above. Except I did not include FXP in the discussion. Should I have?

What about LONGS? JD.COM is making a lot of noise overseas. PODD. LWAY. TIGR.

M2F_ALT_PLAIN_PORTFOLIO_12920.xlsx

FISHNET SYSTEM. No new trades.

2020_PORT_FISHNET_EXCAL_12920.xlsx

EXCAL-PROP2 SYSTEM

We have a couple new trades here.

A couple of our systems have chosen NEXCF.

GRUB finally popped up from support line. We think it was (unfairly -- does that mean ANYTHING?) OVERSOLD.

Usually the kind of candlestick shown in the chart above appears at a top. When it appears at a bottom, it is a nice sign. It rallied hard, gapping up, and then pulled back to close near the lows. It is called A BULLISH WINDOW.

Rising Window

Today's chart:

My guess is that tomorrow will be positive for GRUB.

Our weekly system moved back today; but it is doing well.

Here's a few of our BEST TTWEEKLY TRADES

There is a wide variation here; but some stocks have really performed.

CGTS DIAGNOSTICS

First peek: C1=1 below 50% can be the beginning of trouble. For instance, last spring.

CROSSOVERS. LONG. We end our LONG Crossover Trade when the top two CROSSOVERS go negative.

CROSSOVER TRADE. LONG, up 41.07% for 2020.

DIAGNOSTIC SCORECARD. Nothing negative.

DATA.

HEADLINE NEWS.

Headlines are dismal. We have replaced our leader with a committee of lackeys who care more about appearances than about reality.

THE SPIRITUAL OVERLORDS ARE TAKING OVER. You'll own nothing; but not everyone will own nothing.

CENSORSHIP is the same as AMERICAN PATRIOTISM NOW. CENSOR ALL THE NEWS THAT DOES NOT FIT.

HEAR NO EVIL, SEE NO EVIL, SPEAK NO EVIL,.

--------

If JPM is bulliish, can we afford to be bullish for long? Remember, we have already CANCELLED THE EXPERTS as a part of the CANCEL CULTURE.

Does that mean more stimulus for Chinese stocks?

--------

Umm. The GREAT ONE. I grew up (in Wyoming) watching NHL hockey, rooting for Bobby Orr and Boston and then the Bullies on Broad Street, with Bobbie Clarke.

Door Dash, opens 80% over IPO price.

Does this mean JPMORGAN likes BITCOIN?

GAMMA is the new word for "insiders who know". NOT MY TEMPO.

THE CITIES ARE DYING, ARE THEY?

YOU CAN TURN IT ON AND OFF, APPARENTLY. FLIP THE SWITCH.

Taxpayers have to pay both TENANTS and LANDLORDS because of COVID? What?

GLOBAL WARMING MAKES ITS TRUE APPEARANCE? Don't they get it: the Sun rules the Solar System, not humans driving SUV's.
