After yesterdays choppy negative day, MPW has turned the page and started progressing in a positive direction. As was mentioned yesterday, MPW, has some big sails and a small hull, so when things get windy, its tough on the old girl. However, when the wind is going in one direction at a steady pace, MPW with its lessened institutional ownership, and relatively high beta, takes off.
Right along side, our merry vessel, was the Sovereign of the Seas herself, SBRA. SBRA was also the only other Healthcare Reit up over 1% today, with a gain of 1.76%, or a gain of 26 cents. MPW was up slightly less at 9.47, up 13 cents or 1.39%.
Behind these leaders of the pack were the other healthcare Reits, presumably enjoying the scenery on their way to victory lane. Though two LTC, and SNH got swamped and ended up the day down. Down, but not out one should say, being that they were only down, .13%, and .69% respectively.
To put things into perspective, the DJ was up .57%, and the S&P 500 was up .59%. The services sector was up .72%. Thus, on another note, once again, MPW has out-positived the market in general, gaining more positive territory than its beta of 1.57 would lead one to believe.
