Summary

  • My 1st raised distributions! and then. my 2nd!
  • August we decided to raise our monthly cash investment from 400 to 500 a month!
  • We add an investment ETG!
  • We are almost at a year!

OK, I was going to wait for the 1 year post, but I really want to get and update out there. Life has been crazy, and its been hard to get an update, out there. But none the less, here is one! I will be getting a 1 year update out next, around Oct 15!

Ok, lets dig into the last 3 months!

Its been hard to find value...as I dont like to buy any CEF at a premium if I can avoid it.. but if I do that, I wont be able to buy any PIMCOS :). But, its been hard to find solid paying monthly, thats price wasnt SUPER inflated.

I think I will be just adding to what I already own, as I want my shares, to be paying enough, so that I am buying new shares, with just, my income distributions.

Lets talk raises!!!

These are the 1st 2 raises this account has seen. In Aug ETO went from a 14.25 a month distribution to a 17.92! Thats a 26% increase! UTG went from a .18 to a .19 monthly distribution.. or 6% increase. Man, there is nothing like getting a rise! Show me the money!!!!

So I said before, buys have been difficult.. I try to buy at a discount and have a 6% yield. This has gotten harder and harder, and ends up I just buy the same stocks over and over. I am going to have to be ok that these investments are going to outgrow the others.

So over the 3 months I bought:

BMEZ - 3

BRMK - 12

RQI - 6

HTD - 5

AIO - 1

UTF - 4

UTG - 4

CSQ - 5

ETO - 4

ETG - 20

I will take about the new dog in the room, ETG....It also  got a huge increase like ETO...from .10 to .13, or a 26% increase! The market didnt seem to react, and so I got it as a good price(about a 7% discount) and an over 7% yield. It immediately became my highest paid distribution at 2.60 a month. It for the most part, have has a steady steam of income increases (7) since 2005 and (5) specials. It did make 2 cuts, during the 2009 crash, and covid. Its holdings at the top are similar to ETO, but ETG has less holdings (180 to 168), and a lot less turnover (220% to 60) than ETO. ETG has been a steady performer for a long time, glad to add it to the Portfolio.

Here is the dividends collected for the 3 months, and Dripped.

Ticker Jun-21 Jul-21 Aug-21
UTG 1.3 1.95 2.15
ETO 1.32 1.33 2.4
UTF 1.13 1.6 1.61
RNP 1.01 1.02 1.02
BSTZ 1.22 1.22 1.23
RQI 1.48 1.56 1.81
GDV 1 1.01 1.01
HTD 1.55 1.83 2.12
PCI 1.6 1.61 1.63
AIO 1.01 1.02 1.15
CHW 1.36 1.37 1.38
CSQ 1.76 1.77 2.09
BMEZ 1.46 1.61 1.62
PDT 1.57 1.58 1.59
BRMK 1.4 1.41 1.56
ETG 2.6
TOTAL 20.17 21.89 26.97

So a nice $7 increase in dividends over the 3 months. After 11 months and $4500 invested the portfolio is generating $343.11 in income thats a 7.6% yield on cost. I realize now I need to build up current investments so that the DRIP is actually producing enough income, to get the share count to increase, to create more income...etc. So I may focus on just building up current positions. In that vain, I now have 5 investments paying me over $2 a month in income! ETG, ETO, CSQ, HTD, UTG!

We also increased the Cash deposit from $400 a month to $500... as well as finally opening my ROTH! Mine will be focused on ETFS. I just made my 1st $325 deposit last month. I will be making posts about that soon as well. It will be interesting to compare the 2 accounts.

Here is a snap shot of the Portfolio as on Sat 9/5/21. Finally AIO turned green, and every investment (knock on wood) is in the green. Next post will be a 1 year update, and can see where we are at, 1 year in!
