TZ Limited (ASX: TZL) has entered into an agreement with multi-national Waters Corporation (NYSE: WAT), Market Cap. US$8.7 billion, to use its A.D.A.M. Parcel Locker Network as a temporary staging point for the distribution of spare parts to its in-field technical personnel.
Local subsidiary Waters Australia will pay a transaction fee to TZ for every parcel delivered to the locker.
"This arrangement demonstrates the capability of the A.D.A.M. Parcel Lockers to provide logistic solutions for businesses in addition to our on-line e-commerce offering to consumers," TZ executive chairman Mark Bouris said.
"We're excited by the prospect of expanding the service to other businesses."
Waters is the local operating subsidiary of Waters Corporation (NYSE: WAT), which holds worldwide leading positions in complementary analytical technologies - liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, rheometry and microcalorimetry.
Specifically, the company designs, manufactures, sells and services ultra performance liquid chromatography (UPLC), high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), chromatography columns and chemistry products, mass spectrometry (NYSE:MS) systems, thermal analysis and rheometry instruments.
Waters general manager Peter Fuller said the A.D.A.M. Parcel Locker initiative enabled it to improve support for its in-field engineers, saying it is a great offering to businesses needing a decentralised network of delivery hubs.
"We had been looking for a solution for some time without success. TZ provides us the opportunity to streamline our business and use the service as an extension of our logistics infrastructure," Fuller added.
"Our first transaction occurred a few days ago with goods delivered to the A.D.A.M. Locker at the 7-Eleven Heidelberg site. It all went smoothly considering that this represents a completely new process for us, the courier and for TZ."
The arrangement provides for Waters to book a courier to deliver spare parts to a nominated A.D.A.M. Parcel Locker and enabling a Waters' area technician to retrieve the parts 24/7 from the locker to support servicing of customers.
The services are currently being trialed in Melbourne with a view to expand nationally after successful implementation and as the Parcel Locker network expands.
TZ had in July reached an agreement with leading car park operator, Secure Parking Pty Limited, for a trial deployment of its A.D.A.M. Parcel Lockers at parking stations, supporting the second phase rollout of the system.
Secure Parking is one of the largest in the sector operating car parks in Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, mainland China, India, Lebanon and the UAE, managing over 1,400 car parks containing 1 million parking spaces in major city locations.
The company has also successfully completed end-to-end testing with Temando and selected Carrier partners and integration with a number of e-tailers is currently underway through Temando.
These e-tailers will be offering A.D.A.M. Parcel Locker sites as collection points as part of their shopping cart experience.
