It added that due to the rapidly increasing prospectivity of these project, it had relinquished the Ramsay, Gifford Creek and Rylstone projects in Australia.
At the West Wanganui intrusive gold project, an external consultant is completing an initial interpretation of the recently acquired airborne geophysical survey.
Results from this interpretation are expected within the next few weeks following which further fieldwork will follow up the targets generated.
The survey was carried out to identify gold mineralized dykes which had previously been identified at West Wanganui through initial fieldwork. This included intrusive rocks that also contained visible gold.
West Wanganui project is just about 40 kilometres west of the Sam's Creek deposit explored by Oceana Gold (ASX:OGC) and MOD Resources (ASX:MOD) that has already reported over 1 million ounces of gold - with limited exploration.
West Coast Airborne Survey
The company also expects to receive at the end of this month data from the multi-million dollar government funded West Coast airborne geophysical survey that covers over 1,000 square kilometres of its Hohonu and Reefton South Projects on New Zealand's South Island.
While much of the West Coast is covered by thick vegetation, initial fieldwork conducted at the Hohonu project had identified several areas of rare metal mineralisation.
The company is also interested in areas surrounding the historic gold mines at Mt Greenland and Mt Rangitoto, which it believes may be intrusion related.
Fieldwork and historical results are to be combined with an interpretation of the geophysical survey to generate specific targets for fieldwork across the mountainous terrain.
Strategic is conducting an in-depth investigation of the geology and history of the Golden Blocks goldfield, which is opening up a new insight into the potential of the historic goldfield.
Historical information continues to be discovered that other explorers have clearly missed. The company is in the process of verifying this information and will release the details as soon as appropriate.
