IBC hires consultant Chris Huskamp for autosports initiatives

Rare metals maker IBC Advanced Alloys Corp. (CVE:IB) said on Wednesday it has engaged metallurgical consultant Chris Huskamp to help the company develop and implement a range of growth initiatives in the autosports market.

Huskamp, an associate technical fellow at Boeing (NYSE:BA), develops high performance materials strategies and solutions for military and commercial aerospace projects.

Also, Huskamp is the owner and president at Huskamp Motorsports where he provides consulting services to Formula One, Grand-Am Daytona prototypes, IndyCar and Formula One prop boat teams.

IBC Advanced Alloy’s chief executive, Anthony Dutton said: "While IBC's automotive strategy will initially focus on high performance racing, the company's work also holds great promise for the commercial automotive sector which is already adopting ultra-light weight and alternative materials solutions for its current and next generation designs."

IBC's ultra-light family of advanced alloys and metal composites could have huge benefits for auto racing and performance automotive applications, especially those where rotational mass and unsprung weight is critical, the company said in a statement.

The company's range of alloys and composites has a consistently high stiffness-to-weight ratio, and other important materials characteristics, which would permit automotive engineers greater design flexibility and more options to attain significant performance gains.

IBC’s rare metal alloys are used in a number of industries, including nuclear energy, automotive, telecommunications and a range of industrial applications.
It has production facilities in Indiana, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Missouri. The company also owns prospective beryllium properties in the Western US covering about 9,500 hectares.

Shares of IBC traded higher Wednesday afternoon up 2.94 percent to 17 cents on the junior Toronto Stock Exchange.
