Dragon Mining strikes bonanza 1.1 metres at 497g/t gold at Kuusamo in Finland

Dragon Mining (ASX: DRA) continues to deliver a string of bonanza and high grade gold intersections from the Kuusamo Gold Project in northern Finland, with today no exception.

The latest highlight is the bonanza 17.60 metres at 34.01 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 186 metres, which includes the stunning 1.1 metres at 497g/t gold

These results are from the current nine hole campaign for 3500 metres, which is targeting continuations of the southern lodes of the Juomasuo deposit.

Adding some even more interest, the intercept occurs outside the recently updated resource model, extending one of the main lodes both along strike and with depth.

Earlier in the month at Juomasuo, Dragon delivered an increase to the JORC Resource to 1.574 million tonnes at 5.7g/t gold for 285,800 ounces, with a 2g/t gold cut-off.

The updated resource, completed by independent consultants Runge Limited, indicates that closer spaced drilling has resulted in the number of ounces in the Indicated category almost doubling to 82%.

Juomasuo is the largest of the five gold deposits identified to date on the Kuusamo Gold Project and comprises a set of closely spaced sub-parallel lodes, which remain open along strike towards the north and south, as well as down plunge.

The importance of Juomasuo

Juomasuo is very important due to the sheer weight of gold intersections from the deposit, which currently has three rigs active with plans to drill up to 100,000 metres to confirm depth and strike extensions.

Recently Dragon announced that in-fill drilling at Juomasuo delivered the spectacular 45.80 metres at 32.96g/t from 133 metres, which also had elevated levels of cobalt (1,119ppm), copper (1,109ppm) and total rare earth oxides (266ppm).

Juomasuo bonanza historic hits
In outlining the potential of the Juomasuo gold deposit, it is also worth reviewing some historic bonanza grade strikes.
These include; 19.20 metres at 179.52g/t gold, 3.70 metres at 426.98g/t gold,  19.60 metres at 63.70g/t gold, 4.12 metres at 265.50g/t gold, and 8.00 metres at 48.85g/t gold.
