iSonea (ASX: ISN) is working to create brand recognition with the launch of a new consumer website featuring information about its Acoustic Respiratory Monitoring (ARM) ™ devices.
Michael Thomas, chief executive officer, commented:
"This site is designed to create brand recognition and to ensure iSonea is the 'go to' company for asthma news and innovations.
"It does not replace our existing corporate information website, iSoneaMed.com, but rather is a consumer adjunct to the corporate site.
"We are determined to remain at the forefront in the asthma management and respiratory mobile health market and this new site is another useful tool to further enable us to achieve our commercial objectives."
The new site, SoundAsthma.com, highlights iSonea's asthma management technologies, including the WheezoMeter™ and the soon to be launched AsthmaSense™ v1.0 mobile health asthma management app.
The aim of the website is to help promote patient understanding of the need for better monitoring tools and methods to improve asthma outcomes.
It will also update consumers on asthma news and trends and has links to social media sites including the company's Facebook, Twitter and YouTube sites.
iSonea plans to roll out a number of its asthma products over the next 24 months after entering its first formal partnership with telecommunications company Qualcomm Life in February for the development of a mobile asthma monitoring platform.
The new technology will combine iSonea's proprietary ARM ™ devices and mobile health asthma management systems with Qualcomm's 2net™ platform.
iSonea will leverage Qualcomm's 2net Hub technology, a plug-and-play connectivity gateway to the cloud-based 2net Platform data server, to collect and transmit patient health data from its asthma monitoring devices.
The technology will ultimately allow physicians to securely access patient monitoring data, review treatment progress and medication adherence and adjust patient action plans accordingly.
Importantly, the partnership will provide iSonea with a larger scale, lower cost platform.
Tapping a US$16b market
In the U.S., healthcare is considered the largest and least tapped market for mobile technology, which is leading to the big IT players like Microsoft, Cisco and Google all seeking out ways to penetrate the market.
The asthma market from a therapy perspective is about US$16 billion annually. Asthma is a widespread and growing condition that affects 300 million people worldwide and represents a major healthcare cost burden.
Australia, in particular, has one of the highest prevalence rates of asthma in the world.
