The latest 50 reconnaissance samples returned up to 6% copper while coarse gold of up to 2.41 grams per tonne(g/t) gold have been found in a number of new structures that are parallel to and cross-cutting the main structure.
These include a new 550 metre long northern target of up to 3 metres wide that contains up to 1.13% copper and 0.33g/t gold. This is open along both the north and south.
Elementos added that many of the cooper and gold zones coincide with strong linear magnetic highs, implying strong, deep structures.
It noted the 3 main north-south trending structures that have now being identified are intersected by several lesser, transverse and perpendicular structures.
These consists of clearly defined lenses of hydrothermal breccias and stockworks of silica-sulphide veinlets cutting the igneous wallrocks.
The reconnaissance samples were collected from outcropping structures, veins, historic mine workings and mine-proximal waste dumps and have fulfilled the objective of the new sampling program, which was designed to identify new structures and structure extensions in areas with no previous exploration.
Elementos said its primary focus is to continue testing potential extensions of the known structures and detailed in-fill channel sampling of the main structure to establish drill targets.
To that end, detailed continuous channel sampling and localised fine-scale mapping programs are underway over the principal targets identified to date.
The in-fill sampling will assist with better understanding the copper grade distributions across the width of the structures, as well as the genesis of the gold mineralisation within the system. The results will provide more detailed information for drill targeting.
Further mapping and sampling of the new structures identified in the current program and identifying new structures is also underway.
A further 110 sample results are at the laboratory.
Earlier this year Elementos secured an option to earn a 50% interest in the Tamaya Project, which is strategically located in a major copper-gold district hosting the Andacollo, El Espino, Tres Valles, and Punitaqui deposits.
Historical production at Tamaya is reported to be 2 million tonnes at 12% copper, with Elementos having identified the potential for large volumes of lower grade material.
Elementos' sampling and mapping program is concentrated on the main Tamaya structural trend that was the primary focus of historic mining activity.
