Edible Fracking Chemicals

|Includes: BHGE, FTK, Halliburton Company (HAL)

The Wall Street Journal report : "Edible Ingredients Used to Drill for Gas."

Looks like Halliburton (NYSE:HAL) and Baker Hughes (BHI) have developed fracking chemicals using fatty acids and other ingredients found in toothpaste, ketchup, ice cream and beer.

While another smaller company Flotek (NYSE:FTK) also has developed its own Edible Ingredients Used to Drill for Gas : Drilling supplier Flotek Industries Inc. told analysts last month that it has completed successful field trials of a new batch of biodegradable fracturing chemicals using compounds extracted from citrus products.

Why all the noise about Fracking Chemicals? Opponets of Gas drilling have protested against drilling for gas with conventional chemicals because of poisoning of water wells.

So companies are now coming out with Chemicals that are earth friendly.
