Hey guys...just wanted to let everyone know that I am finally catching up on my backlog and have updated the "EIA Natural Gas Master File" which you can download for free at Excel-Data-Junkies.com . The idea is that I download all of the monthly data and cram it into an easy to use dashboard. From there, you can chart any of 100+ natural gas series including state by state production, consumption by category, and of course beginning and ending inventories. Some of the data goes back to the 1970's, and the dashboard makes it easy to pick the time frame you are interested in and even chart multiple series together.
Below we have a chart of trailing 12 month inflows and outflows showing the peak in inflows last February and the not so shocking decline after prices bottomed out. Inflows and outflows now look pretty well lined up, but it is curious to see consumption declining as well....the bulls will want to keep an eye on that.
One last chart for the road:
One more for the road…here we have the trailing 12 month production from Texas slowly building before topping out mid 2015 and now declining at a rate of about 15% for over a year now. For reference Texas is about 25% of US production so it will be interesting to see if this decline turns around in the next 6 months or so
