Energy, Retail and Technology driving the market higher

On the back of a new contract won by Valero Energy, <VLO>, shares started breaking out of a consolidation range to go higher -

In the Retail area Costco, <COST>  an operator of warehouse clubs, raised its quarterly dividend to nearly 21 cents, from 18 cents, late Thursday of last week and shares are starting to break out of range - . In the same sector Abercrombie & Fitch Co'A', <ANF> started breaking out as well ,

In Technology, AMD announced new product in the 3D visualization space -  the AMD Phenom™ II X6 processor and AMD 890FX chipset ushering in a new era of immersive 3D entertainment and visualization.

Trading in McAfee Inc. picked up on Monday after an analyst report speculated that Hewlett-Packard Co. may want to buy the security software company. This could gain HPQ a significant competitive edge against rival San Jose-based Cisco Systems Inc.  by buying McAfee.
