Zinc
Shanghai 0#Zinc is quoted between RMB 15150 and 15250 per tonne, up RMB 100 per tonne, with trading from RMB 135 contango to 35 backwardation; 1#Zinc is quoted between RMB 15100 and 15200 per tonne, up RMB 100 per tonne, with trading from RMB 185 to 85 contango. The strong economic data from China brought support to LME metal market last weekend, as SHFE Zinc opened higher today with the trend. Although the rising range has been narrowed finally, except for some more expensive zinc such as Huludao Zinc, other zinc all have moved up price on the spot market. On the other hand, owing to lacking confidence to the near-future market, downstream consumers are unwilling to purchase goods.

“ We have sold 100 tonnes of zinc at RMB 15150 to 15220 per tonne today. There are not many inquirers before half past ten. But when SHFE price drifted lower then, there are more buyers inquiring price. The sales is moderate.” A zinc trader said to SHMET.

“ The market is following the downside trend but ignoring the uptrend. We felt difficult to quote price because of the inconspicuous SHFE market these two days. We decide to quote price at RMB 15100 per tonne and sold less than 150 tonnes.” Another zinc trader said to SHMET.
