Buffett visited Canada on June 11, (Calgary Herald), first going to Calgary, stopping with family members for a burger dinner at Laurier Lounge. After Buffett’s visit, owner Martin Maheux changed the name of his burger to the W.B. Burger.
From there Buffett caught a train, which went through the Rockies to Vancouver.
No word was given about the train trip. But could Buffett be looking at Canadian National Railway in which his friend, Bill Gates, holds a ton of stock?
Back in 2008, Buffett and Gates stirred up rumors when the duo toured Alberta’s oilsands , sparking speculation about possible investments in Calgary-based oilsands. Buffett later said an investment was not imminent, but that the trip provided good background.
Previously, Buffett has made trips out of the country to China, Korea, Israel and Europe looking for business. Next year Buffett plans to visit India among other countries.
So was Buffett ‘s trip to Canada to check out oilsands investments or an investment in railroad, or one in hamburgers?
