Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CTXS) stock price plunged by more than 6 percent on Monday October 11, 2010 after an analyst predicted the business software maker's third-quarter revenue will fall shy of Wall Street's expectations.

Credit Suisse analyst Philip Winslow reached his conclusion after surveying the distributors that sell Citrix's software, which helps companies save money by enabling them to unleash more operating systems and applications from the same computer. Those discussions with distributors also persuaded Winslow that Citrix's fourth-quarter revenue will miss the target set by industry analysts.

CTXS designs, develops, and markets technology solutions that deliver applications on-demand worldwide. It offers desktop solutions, such as Citrix XenDesktop, an integrated desktop virtualization system; and Citrix XenApp, an application virtualization solution that centralizes and delivers enterprise applications as an on-demand service.
