Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC)
NOC has received a $45 million contract from the U.S. Navy for Phase 3 of low-rate initial production of the AN/AES-1 Airborne Laser Mine Detection System (ALMDS). The contract includes the production of four pods, spares, product development and support at a lower cost-per-pod than in previous lots. The ALMDS pod is mounted on an MH-60S helicopter. Flying over sea lanes, it spots mines with its pulsed laser light and streak tube receivers by imaging, in 3-D, day or night, the near-surface of the ocean.
NOC provides products, services, and integrated solutions in the aerospace, electronics, information and services, and shipbuilding sectors. CareFusion Corporation (NYSE:CFN)
CFN, medical products maker, said last week it pulled about 17,000 of its Alaris PC infusion units off the market in August because of a problem that could cause serious or deadly problems for patients. CareFusion said it told customers about the recall on Aug. 24. The units were made or serviced between December 2008 and September 2009, and they were taken off the market because their screens sometimes froze when the devices were put into wireless mode. The freeze could delay treatment or prevent changes to the course of therapy that was programmed into the device. The recall applied to model 8015 units.
