Masimo Corporation (Nasdaq:MASI) announced on November 2, 2010 its financial results for the third quarter of 2010. Masimo’s total revenue for the third quarter rose 15.5% to $101.0 million, compared to $87.4 million for the third quarter of 2009. Masimo’s third quarter product revenue rose 18.2% to $88.8 million, compared to $75.1 million for the third quarter of 2009. Revenue from Masimo rainbow products rose 98.7% to $11.9 million in the third quarter, compared to $6.0 million for the third quarter of 2009. Net income for the third quarter was $16.4 million, or $0.27 per diluted share, including $0.01 per diluted share in one-time marketing-related expenses that Masimo had previously planned and announced after receiving$30.1 million in proceeds in the first quarter of 2010 from an antitrust lawsuit against Covidien. Excluding these one-time expenses, adjusted net income for the third quarter was $16.9 million, or $0.28 per diluted share, compared to net income of $13.1 million, or $0.22 per diluted share, in the third quarter of 2009.

GAAP net income for third quarter 2010 included stock-based compensation and related payroll taxes, changes in contingent earn-out liability, and amortization of intangible assets. Excluding these items, non-GAAP net income for the third quarter of 2010 was $27.9 million or $0.40 per diluted share, compared with $0.22 per diluted share for the third quarter of 2009.
