Value Line Issue 8 - Plus Edition Commentary

|Includes: Eli Lilly and Company (LLY)

This edition of value line was contained 266 companies from both of the editions. Over half of all the companies I checked over were Drug companies. At least 80% of these companies were losing money and destroying shareholder value, which made it quite easy for me to look no further into them. Almost all of the ones who were making money were trading a ridiculous multiples, with the hope of hitting a home run. The only Drug companies trading at decent multiples were the mega-caps, especially Eli Lily (NYSE:LLY). From what I read about Lily however, the future looks quite bleak. The others are not trading at rock bottom prices either. Nothing else from any of the other industries stood out. The vast majority of market valuations are currently on the side of "irrational exuberance" as Benjamin Graham would say. Mr. Market is very happy right now, but I can't wait till he turns into a manic depressant again so I could can find some great buys! Hopefully Issue 9 next week will bring some great securities...
