Bitcoin’s (BTC) bear trend has continued, as the flagship cryptocurrency is down from a peak of about $35,650 midday yesterday, to a present trading price of about $31,300, according to data from CoinMarketCap.
Meanwhile, CoinDesk reports that the world’s largest asset manager ($7.81 trillion under management) BlackRock (NYSE:BLK) seems to have granted two of its funds the ability to invest in bitcoin futures. Prospectus documents filed yesterday with the SEC show that the two entities: BlackRock Funds V and BlackRock Global Allocation Fund Inc., “are at least eyeing bitcoin.”
Digital assets financial services company Diginex Limited (NasdaqGS:EQOS) has closed its previously announced $38.6 million private placement with certain institutional investors. The company’s CEO, Richard Byworth, said:
"The closing of this private placement is another major milestone in our corporate history and will provide us with additional capital needed to invest in our business and execute on our business plan. Institutions are increasingly seeking out respected and trusted partners to gain exposure to this important asset class. Diginex is ideally positioned to benefit from this increase in institutional participation."
DMG Blockchain Solutions Inc. (TSXV:DMGI) has provided shareholders with its business outlook for 2021. One of the chief aims outlined in the press release focussed on the improvement of the company’s Christina Lake crypto mining operations. DMG’s CTO, Adrian Glover, said:
“Our future crypto mining efficiency will be extraordinarily high, as we combine immersion cooling with Blockseer’s Mine Manager automation and DMG’s seasoned technical team operating the Christina Lake Data Center. I believe DMG will be challenging the crypto industry in the hashrate we will be producing relative to our power consumption and operational costs. For example, if any given number of miners would generate 1,000 petahash without immersion cooling, DMG is going to be able to realize at least 1,300 petahash from the exact same set of miners by implementing our immersion cooling technology.”
Bluesky Digital Assets Corp. (CSE:BTC) has purchased $500,000 CAD in new hardware to expand its current mining efforts. The company’s COO, Anthony R. Pearlman, explained:
"We have leveraged our international relationships and acted fast to get new mining hardware purchased and actively mining as the current market conditions and the continuing positive trends are, and should, continue to reward our efforts. We are experienced technology buyers and we do not just buy the 'latest and the greatest', as we always focus on maximizing the rate of return on our shareholders investment."
