Though currently in the red by nearly 10 percent in the past 24 hours at press time, Silver reached an eight-year high yesterday, according to CNBC, after growing to $29.06 an ounce. CNBC reports that this “spike in demand” for the metal “appears to be related to retail traders in the Reddit forum WallStreetBets, which has helped drive trading activity in heavily shorted stocks like GameStop and AMC Entertainment in recent weeks.”
Endeavour Silver Corp. (NYSE:EXK) has granted an option to purchase a 100 percent interest in its Guadalupe y Calvo gold-silver exploration project in Chihuahua, Mexico to Ridgestone Mining Inc. (TSXV:RMI) The project boasts a “production history of over 2.0 million ounces of gold and 28.0 million ounces of silver with estimated head grade of 37gpt Au and 870gpt Ag.” Jonathan George, CEO and Director of Ridgestone, commented:
"We are very excited for this addition to the Ridgestone Mining project portfolio as we increase our footprint in Mexico. The Guadalupe y Calvo project represents a significant asset that we look to advance through exploration which will include a review and 3D interpretation of the current drill hole database in the coming months. Our technical team sees the great potential in the project to grow the resources and generate new high-priority targets. This project compliments our Rebeico Project as we look to build value for all stakeholders."
Santacruz Silver Mining Ltd. (TSXV:SCZ) has reported operating results from the Zimapan Mine and the Rosario Project in Mexico for Q4 and the year ended December 31, 2020, and has also provided an operations update. Some highlights include an increase in silver equivalent (AgEq) consolidated annual production of 30 percent, and a Q4 silver production increase of 20 percent at the Zimapan Mine. The company’s CEO, Carlos Silva, said:
"Our priority during 2020 was to ensure the health and safety of our employees and stakeholders during the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. Despite country wide closures early in the year, we achieved a safe return to full production by June 2020 and reached record levels by year end, which is a significant accomplishment for our team on the ground. Additionally, production from Veta Grande has been completely replaced by production from the Zimapan Mine."
Equity Metals Corporation (TSXV:EQTY) has reported final assays from its 2020 Phase I drill program on the Silver Queen Property, BC, which “identified bonanza-grade silver mineralization at the Camp Vein and high-grade gold mineralization at the No. 3 Vein.” Select highlights include: a 0.8 metre down-hole interval averaging 2,522g/t Ag, 0.2g/t Au and 2.1% Zn, and a 0.8 metre down-hole interval averaging 864g/t Ag, 0.3g/t Au and 1.6% Zn.
Silver Sands Resources Corp. (CSE:SAND) has announced the start of the 2,700m Phase II drill program at the Virginia Silver Project, in Santa Cruz province, Argentina. The company’s CEO, Keith Anderson, said:
"We were very pleased to encounter significant intersections in 2 of our first 6 holes as we looked at increasing the lateral extent of mineralization at both Ely Central and Martina SW. The Phase II program is further targeting both of these zones, along with some of the other principal veins and new targets generated from the Phase I trenching and IP programs.”
