The crypto market is looking quite green as we head into another weekend. Bitcoin (BTC) is up from yesterday, trading for around $38,000 at press time, according to data from CoinMarketCap. Ether (ETH) has continued its green streak with yet another new all-time high trading price of $1,740 ($1,720 at press time). CoinDesk quotes trader and analyst Alex Kruger on the possible outcome of the launch of ether futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange set for February 8:

“I don’t expect a crash after the launch, as it happened in 2017. For two reasons. First, the market is now more mature, the macro is different, and there are different players involved. Second, ETH remains a high beta asset. BTC determines the market direction, ETH follows.”

tZero, the blockchain arm of Overstock (NasdaqGS:OSTK), has announced a partnership and technology integration with Tokensoft subsidiary, Tokensoft Transfer Agent, described in the press release as “an SEC-registered transfer agent, to support issuers using Tokensoft’s digitization and transfer agent services.” This will allow for securities of issuers utilizing Tokensoft’s services to seamlessly onboard and trade on the tZERO ATS. Tokensoft CEO Mason Borda said:

"Our mission aligns with tZERO in advancing the adoption of blockchain in financial markets. We are excited to integrate with tZERO and provide our customers with a path for secondary liquidity on an industry-leading trading platform."

NBTC Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Internet company The9 Limited (NasdaqGS:NCTY), has signed a strategic cooperation framework purchase agreement with Shenzhen MicroBT Electronics Technology Co., Ltd. “to purchase 5,000 WhatsMiner bitcoin mining machines from MicroBT within one year, including but not limited to models M32 and M31S.” The press release indicates that The9 “also plans to continue purchasing different types of cryptocurrency mining machines in the near future.”

SkyChain Technologies Inc. (TSXV:SCT) is preparing to expand its data centre services into the edge computing sector. The company’s CEO Bill Zhang explained:

"Considering these powerful market trends, we've identified Edge computing as the next strategic step in our growth. Skychain's deep experience in cryptocurrency mining has resulted in development of our own unique high-speed equipment, venues and energy solutions suited perfectly to Edge computing. As a result, we can provide access to new revenue sources with only marginal costs of upgrading our facilities."
