Hedge Fund Activities

Here are two other purchases by notable hedge funds as per regulatory filings:

- Carl Icahn filed a 13D for doubling his holdings of  shares of Chesapeake Energy Corporation (NYSE:CHK) to about 38.6MM, amounting to 5.8% of the company. Chesapeake is a producer of natural gas and the stock of the company has dropped in recent times along with the price of natural gas. The company has invested heavily in land with shale gas reserves. Icahn has been active in the energy space- he recently made a successful bid for Dynergy (NYSE:DYN) beating out The Blackstone Group, which also bid for the company.

- Steve Cohen's SAC Capital filed a 13D for its stake in E-COMMERCE CHINA DANGDANG INC. (NYSE:DANG) the Chinese internet company dubbed 'The Chinese Amazon" that recently had its IPO. SAC Capital purchased about 150K shares or a little less than 1%.
