Citigroup Stock Buyback

|Includes: Citigroup Inc. (C)
There's been a lot of chatter about Citigroup's come back from the depths of the Credit Crisis.  Many retail investors question how high profile Wall Street Analysts can give Citi a long term price estimate of $30 or more.  At this lofty price, retail investors argue, the market capitalization would be well north of $800 billion dollars.

An $800 billion market cap is over valued for Citi indeed, considering it's all time high has only been in the $300 to $350 billion range.  However, what retail investors don't factor in is Citi's option to implement a stock buyback program.

A buyback program will decrease Citi's diluted outstanding shares thereby increasing the stock's price.  Vikram Pandit, CEO of Citi, has already made public -their plans to potentially reinstate a dividend and/or initiate a stock buyback in 2012.

So to the retail investors, this is an opportunity of a lifetime.  $30 may well be in the reach.
