Google To Recruit Software Makers For Mobile Apps: Report

Internet search engine Google Inc will recruit a few software developers to generate apps for smart phones and other mobile devices to take on rival Apple, The Wall Street Journal reported citing people familiar with the matter. The company has begun hiring software engineers, product managers, user-interface experts and others with ideas for mobile applications, the report said. The newspaper said some current Google staff has changed jobs to work on mobile apps with Benjamin Ling, Google product management director leading recruitment efforts. Technology research firm Gartner Inc estimates worldwide revenue from mobile apps to triple to $15.1 billion in 2011, which includes paid downloads and advertising revenue generated by free apps.
