DUK Added To Spouse Roth IRA

|Includes: Duke Energy Corporation (DUK)

On December 24, 2015, I created a spouse Roth IRA, a feat long overdue. The primary goal is to purchase dividend growth stocks with strong dividend growth potential. Secondary goal is to generate income during the growth years (9 to 16). Selection of stocks will be from each of the sectors with goal of 2 stocks per sector and equal weighting between them as the portfolio is built out.

Initial purchases of IBM (Technology), SO (Utilities), and T (Telecommunications) were made in January 2016. I followed-up with WFC (Financials) on March 10, 2016. DUK (Utilities) was bought back on May 6, 2016, after reviewing a series of technicals. With the addition of DUK I will not look to add any additional utilities. Current dividend yield is slightly over 4%.

Dividend payments were received from IBM and SO in March and recently for T. Funds were added to the portfolio in February and April. The last deposit for the year will be made in late May or early June. An additional purchase will not be made until at least $1000 has been reached, which is not likely to be reached during the remainder of 2016.

Disclosure: I am/we are long IBM, SO, T, WFC, DUK.
