A brief update regarding the status of the HMS Victory (1744) rescue.
The Marine Management Organisation (MMO) has indicated, through a FOIA response, that the Maritime Heritage Foundation (NYSE:MHF) is currently arranging for public notices to be placed regarding the HMS Victory marine license application.
The public consultation period is open, and the documents supporting the application are available on the MMO website.
Based on language from the MMO, it appears that the process will end 28 days after MHF posts public notice.
The MMO was involved in the project planning process along with the MOD and DCMS. If the agency had objections to the project, and the archaeological work that will be required, they would have raised these issues during the planning sessions.
We still don't know when the official reinstatement from the MoD will come. Yet, with MHF stating that reinstatement is coming, and with MHF proceeding with the marine license application, it would seem that the wheels are turning.
