KKR becomes the latest P-E firm to invest in Indonesia's perky consumer market, agreeing to take a 9.5% stake in snack foodmaker Tiga Pilar Sejahtera. Terms weren't disclosed, but the investment should be worth about $42M at current market valuations. The small size of the deal highlights the difficulties P-E groups are having at finding good companies at reasonable prices in that country. - AAPL:

Apple (AAPL) has ordered display prototypes for a ~13" iPad and 4"+ iPhones, the WSJ reports. Reuters reported in June Apple is thinking of launching 4.7" and 5.7" iPhones, and South Korea's ETNews reported in May Apple is looking to launch a 12.9" iPad in early 2014. As the WSJ cautions, Apple often tests hardware prototypes that are never commercialized. Tim Cook has hinted a bigger iPhone, increasingly seen as a necessity as demand for ~5" and larger Android devices takes off, will arrive if/when Apple creates one that meets its standards. - LMT:

Apple's (AAPL) price target is hiked $30 to $480 a day ahead of earnings by BMO's Keith Bachman who believes the company will beat revenue, margin, and EPS expectations, but disappoint on guidance. He stops short of upgrading the stock from a Hold thanks to his concerns about Apple's share of the "smartphone profit pool." Shares are up marginally premarket. - JPM:

JPMorgan (JPM) is reportedly close to reaching a $410M deal with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to settle accusations that the bank manipulated energy markets in California and the Midwest. JPMorgan will also forego $200M in unpaid claims from electricity buyers in California. However, three energy traders whom FERC targeted, as well as the bank's commodities chief, Blythe Masters, will escape sanctions. The settlement would follow FERC levying a fine of $435M on Barclays, which is fighting the penalty, for similar sins. - JPM:
Warren Buffett would happily start building a position in Wells Fargo (WFC) at $56/share, writes The Brooklyn Investor, applying the Buffett/Munger 10% pretax return standard to the $29.9B the bank earned in the last 12 months. At the current share price near $44, the company can be had for a 12.8% pretax yield - no wonder Buffett's been buying more all year. Applying the same analysis to JPMorgan (JPM) finds the Oracle would gladly begin buying that bank at $84/share, 50% above Friday's close. It's a pretty safe bet Buffett hasn't sold any of his stake. - MT:

The physical commodities activities of major banks such as Goldman Sachs (GS), JPMorgan (JPM) and Morgan Stanley (MS) are set to be the subject of a Senate hearing on Tuesday, when legislators will explore whether banks should be allowed to continue to store metal, transport oil and operate mines. On Friday, the Fed said it's reviewing whether banks that take deposits should allowed to trade physical commodities. The Senate hearing and Fed review come amid an NYT investigation into how GS's activities have driven up aluminum prices. - BRK.B, VOD:
