Genie Energy (GNE) is making an exchange offer of newly-created preferred stock for their common stock, on a one-to-one basis. I'm thinking about exchanging half of my common for preferred, but I'm worried this is contrary to my real interests. I bought GNE betting it will grow in value, big-time, over the next several years. But, I also like getting a dividend. But, settling for the dividend now might mean diluting stellar growth down the road.

Any ideas?

Disclosure: I am long GNE.
