Mattress Firm Holding Corp. (NASDAQ:MFRM) announced its financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2014, posting a 21% increase in net sales from a year ago. The bedding specialty retailer reported net sales of $333.5M while comparable-store sales increased 4.3%. During first quarter the company completed a number of acquisitions, including Yotes, Southern Max, and Sleep Experts Partners, which will all contribute substantially to Mattress Firm's continued growth and success. Mattress Firm earnings rose from $7.7M and $0.22 per share a year ago to $12.0M and $0.35 per share, with adjusted earnings per share increasing from $0.31 to $0.38. President and CEO Steve Stagner commented that the company has been executing its strategy of driving sales and that the company is excited about its organic growth and acquisitions that will lead to longer-term success.
