  • Buy this (nearly) sure thing.
  • I love it and suspect you’ll at least like it.

How to create a modest wine cellar on a budget | Matching Food & Wine4 Easy Steps

  1. Sign up here if you have not yet joined Wine Access.
  2. Buy 6 bottles of Alain Voge Les Peyrouses Cotes du Rhone.
  3. Drink them (really just one and share; save the rest for later).
  4. Comment below: blame me? Thank me? Just let me know!

What I say

Solidly great red wine that I enjoy especially in winter. Robert Parker called Alain Voge,

one of the superstars of Cornas.

Not that people care about what I think as much as what Parker thinks, but FWIW, I agree. This vintner sells far more expensive bottles that aren’t far better. This one is his best value proposition.

What the retailer who actually knows wine says,

A high stature Côtes du Rhône with a bright purple complexion in the glass. Aromas of crushed violets harmonize with black pepper, hibiscus, and dried herbs. The mouthfeel is energetic and attractive with cranberry and pomegranate flavors supported by granite minerality, lively acidity, and velvety tannins. Drink now - 2028.

What actual critics say

91 pts. Vinous. Saturated ruby. Smoke- and spice-accented cherry and dark berry scents are complicated by hints of candied flowers and licorice. Supple and broad in the mouth, offering pliant blackberry and bitter cherry flavors that become sweeter as the wine opens up. A floral pastille note appears on the clinging finish, which shows very good clarity and smooth, even tannins.

What Do You Say?

Get your half case on Tuesday, February 23rd and decant a bottle that evening. I always say about securities “think for yourself and do your own work”; the same applies to wine but the “work” is more fun.
