Citizens to Monitor Stimulus Spending

Edward Luce and Tom Braithwaite at ft.com write (here) that Earl Devaney, the former secret service agent who heads President Obama’s stimulus monitoring board, is setting up a web site to enable journalists and citizens to monitor every dollar that comes out of Washington and match it with what is, or is not, happening in their neighborhoods.

This could be a revoluntionary way to hold government accountable.  I only hope that it doesn't prove that citizens don't give a damn.  Maybe they just want to shout and wave signs, and not do any work.  Forgive my cynicism, I want to be proven wrong.
